Ottawa's Best Halal Restaurants

Finding Great Halal Food in Ottawa – One Bite at a Time. If you're looking for Halal restaurants in Ottawa, you’re not alone. It's actually one of our most requested Eats off Instagram behind only Ottawa Brunch spots and Daily Restaurant Specials.

We always focus on great eats—whether they're Halal, vegan, gluten-free, or covered in cheese. Little did we realize we've been unintentionally building an awesome list of Halal restaurants without even trying. But whether you're looking for Halal or just great food in general, this list of Ottawa Halal restaurants and cafes will satisfy your needs. Good food is good food. Who knew we were that good at accidentally being helpful?

And like all our lists, we’ll be updating it regularly as we uncover more Halal restaurants in Ottawa worthy of your appetite. So, check back often. Your future cravings will thank you.

📍 Pie Central

Location: 305 Rideau Street, Ottawa

Menu Highlights: Fresh Lebanese Pies (meat, cheese, za’atar & more), Half-metre-long pies, Fresh fruit smoothies with Ashta, Dubai Chocolates

Pie Central restaurant in downtown Ottawa makes Lebanese style pies fresh to order, so you might wait a bit — but trust me, it’s worth every second. They’re crispy, cheesy, meaty, and packed with flavour. PLUS — they have the famous Dubai chocolates! Also made in-house, either as chocolate bars or stuffed inside chocolate-covered dates. Because sometimes, you deserve dessert inside your dessert.

Pie Central is 100% Halal and open late until 10pm every single day.

📍 Moe’s BBQ

  • Location: 2446 Bank St, Ottawa

  • Menu Highlights: Smoked Chicken & Beef Ribs, Brisket, Poutines, Cornbread

Moe’s BBQ in Ottawa's south end does Southern BBQ without the pork — and it’s all Halal. They smoke their meat with maple and hickory, so it smells like a campfire married a steakhouse.

Truly a unique spot in Ottawa, Moe's BBQ looks and feels like a southern smokehouse... but Halal... and in Ottawa. The restaurant has the whole wooden interior, metal plates and decor. Oh, and their cornbread might be the best cornbread we've ever had in this city!

📍 Mr. Fez

  • Location: 129 Bank Street, Ottawa & 85 Clarence Street, Ottawa (ByWard Market)

  • Menu Highlights: Shawarma, Turkish Doner, Çiğ Köfte

In less than two years, Mr. Fez has gone from new kid on the block to local shawarma celebrity—and in Ottawa, that’s saying something. This Halal restaurant doesn't just do Shawarma but a variety of Middle Eastern delicacies that you won't easily find in other Shawarma shops.

But what really sets Mr. Fez apart? It’s a little something they call “Tssing.” No, that’s not a typo, that’s the sound of magic. They dip their bread in shawarma juice and slap it on the grill, creating this smoky, crispy, golden exterior while keeping the inside soft and delicate. It’s like the bread is getting a spa treatment and a BBQ at the same time. The result? A sandwich so good it might actually change your standards for shawarma forever... and it's 100% Halal.

📍 My Choc-o-la

  • Location: 1054b Ogilvie Road & 2039 Robertson Road, Ottawa

  • Menu Highlights: Sweet & Savoury Dessert Waffles, Crepes, Smoothies, Milkshakes, Fruit Cocktails

My Choc-o-la is where your sweet tooth goes on vacation — and never wants to come home. Their desserts are massive, fancy, halal, and photogenic — basically the supermodels of the dessert world. And they're open late!

So BIG, you could share, but why would you? Possibly our favourite dessert cafe/restaurant/hangout that does Middle-Eastern style desserts with ASHTA, and it seems like we're not the only ones that think this. They've opened a second location in Ottawa's west end and would not be surprised to see a third in the future.

They just opened a second location in Gatineau. Also very hidden behind a gym plaza... maybe that's part of their secret? Whatever it is, Oh My Grill is a spot you'll want to check out. There's not much seating, but just look at the reviews! Halal or not this restaurant is worth a try.

📍 Sultan Ahmet Turkish Cuisine

  • Location: 575 Bank Street, Ottawa

Straight from Mississauga to Ottawa, Sultan Ahmet is a Turkish Restaurant chain that serves up 100% Halal Turkish food with that classic Turkish hospitality, which means you might walk in a stranger but you’ll leave feeling like a distant cousin who just got fed way too much food.

The BBQ Mix Grilled Dinner for Two is a trap—because it could easily serve three, maybe four people, but you won’t stop eating.

But here’s the thing—you will save room for dessert, because you have to. They’ve got Baklava so rich it should have a financial advisor, Kunefe that’s crispy, cheesy, and syrupy all at once, and Turkish ice cream!

If you’re looking for huge flavors, huge portions and 100% Halal Restaurant in Ottawa, Sulta Ahmet has you covered.
